Why City Guides Need Better Intelligence

The best city guides are becoming less like directories and more like decision tools, helping travellers understand where to go, when to go and why it matters.

Traditional city guides are built around lists: restaurants, hotels, museums and neighbourhoods. Useful, but increasingly insufficient.

Travellers now have more information than they can use. The problem is not discovery. It is judgement. They need to know what is worth their limited time, how different places fit together and which recommendations make sense for the specific trip they are taking.

This is where better intelligence matters. A strong guide should explain context, timing, trade-offs and atmosphere, not simply provide another ranked list.

The future city guide is therefore closer to a decision tool. It helps the traveller turn abundance into an itinerary that feels coherent, personal and worth the journey.
