For Thrive, travel is about more than getting from one place to another. It is about access, experience, service and the people who make a journey memorable. After more than a decade of flying Emirates, there is a reason I continue to choose the airline — and why it feels like a natural aviation partner for Thrive.

There are plenty of airlines capable of getting you from A to B. Far fewer make the journey itself feel like part of the experience.

That distinction matters to me. MARIA PURSER SANYA ON CABIN SECTION M

As the founder of Thrive, I spend a lot of time thinking about the brands we choose to work with, write about and put in front of our audience. I am interested in businesses that understand that premium does not simply mean expensive. It means thoughtful. It means consistent. It means removing friction. Most importantly, it means understanding how you make a customer feel.

That is one of the reasons I continue to choose Emirates.

I have flown with Emirates for more than a decade, across different routes, cabins and circumstances. The aircraft change. The destinations change. The people obviously change. Yet one thing has been remarkably consistent: the standard of human service.

Service that starts before you board

Good aviation customer service starts long before you see an aircraft.

Whether I have needed help with a reservation, had a question about a journey or needed somebody to work through the practicalities of a booking, my experience of Emirates’ reservations teams has overwhelmingly been one of people trying to find a solution.

That sounds obvious. It shouldn’t be remarkable.

But anybody who travels frequently knows that it is.

When something about an itinerary is confusing or stressful, you don’t want another layer of bureaucracy. You want a human being who listens, understands the problem and gets on with solving it.

That willingness to help is part of what builds loyalty.

The airport experience follows the same philosophy. Emirates operates at enormous scale, yet boarding has consistently felt remarkably organised to me.

Quick. Efficient. Clearly communicated.

There is something particularly impressive about watching hundreds of passengers board an aircraft such as the A380 without the entire process feeling like organised chaos.

For passengers, those details matter. The best airport experiences are often the ones where you barely notice the mechanics happening around you.

“It’s more then just serving the passengers it the attention to detail that really sings with Emirates staff”

The people make the airline

Then you step onto the aircraft.

This is where Emirates has, in my experience, consistently separated itself from many other long-haul carriers.

Cabin crew can define a flight.

You can have the newest aircraft in the world, the biggest entertainment screen and an exceptional menu, but if the human interaction is wrong, the entire experience changes.

I have flown airlines where cabin service can occasionally feel slightly intimidating. Sometimes a crew member can seem disinterested; sometimes overly formal; sometimes, frankly, a little snooty.

That has never been the defining character of Emirates for me.

What I repeatedly encounter is professionalism without the attitude.

There is a warmth to the service.

A smile.

A conversation.

Someone noticing that you need something before you have had to ask three times.

Someone treating the person travelling in economy with the same basic dignity and hospitality as somebody sitting at the front of the aircraft.

That is what premium service should mean.

On my current journey, I am flying from Dubai to Brisbane — roughly 17 hours in the air and one of those flights where the quality of the onboard experience genuinely matters.

Seventeen hours is a long time to share a metal tube with hundreds of strangers.

Yet almost immediately, the tone of the flight was established by [CABIN MANAGER NAME], who welcomed me onboard, followed by [CREW MEMBER NAME], [CREW MEMBER NAME] and [CREW MEMBER NAME], who looked after my section throughout the journey.

It is easy for a company to talk about hospitality in a marketing campaign.

It is much harder to deliver it at 38,000 feet, hour after hour, on a completely full long-haul aircraft.

That is where brand promises become real.

A genuinely global airline

The other reason Emirates works so naturally for Thrive is its network.

Thrive is being built with a global outlook.

We are interested in the people, businesses, destinations and ideas shaping how a new generation wants to live, work, travel, build wealth and experience the world.

Dubai is an extraordinary hub from which to do that.

From the UK, Emirates opens up Australia, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and beyond, often through a single connection.

Brisbane is a perfect example.

I can leave the UK, connect through Dubai and arrive on the other side of the planet using one airline ecosystem.

For a traveller, that simplicity has enormous value.

For a media company like Thrive, it creates possibility.

These are not simply destinations on a route map. They are places where stories exist.

Founders building companies.

Hotels reinventing hospitality.

New restaurants.

New technology.

New ideas around work.

New cultures and communities.

And, occasionally, the opportunity to sit somewhere spectacular and remember that the world is much bigger than your inbox.

Why this matters to Thrive

When I talk about Emirates as an aviation partner for Thrive, I am not simply talking about putting a logo next to ours.

I am talking about alignment.

Thrive believes that ambition and enjoyment should not be mutually exclusive.

You can build a company and still explore the world.

You can care about money while believing experiences matter.

You can demand efficiency without wanting everything to become soulless.

Technology can make travel easier, but people are still what make travel memorable.

Emirates seems to understand that balance particularly well.

There is enormous technology and infrastructure behind every journey. There has to be. But, as a passenger, the moments I remember are human ones.

The person at check-in who helped.

The reservation agent who solved a problem.

The crew member who remembered what I was drinking.

The cabin manager who stopped for a conversation.

The smile when you board after a difficult day.

Those tiny interactions accumulate into something much bigger: trust.

And trust is ultimately why people return to brands.

The difference between luxury and hospitality

Luxury aviation is often presented through champagne, lounges, lie-flat seats and impressive aircraft.

Those things are wonderful.

But they are not hospitality.

Hospitality is how somebody treats you.

You cannot manufacture that entirely through a brand guideline.

You need the right people, the right culture and an organisation that gives those people the confidence to deliver it.

That is what I see repeatedly when I fly Emirates.

It does not mean every journey will be perfect. No airline operating thousands of flights across a global network could realistically promise that.

What matters is the standard you experience consistently.

And my experience, over many years of travelling with Emirates, is of an airline whose people genuinely seem to understand that they are not simply transporting passengers.

They are looking after them.

That distinction is why, when I think about the airline I want alongside Thrive as we travel the world telling stories, meeting people and building this magazine, Emirates continues to feel like the natural choice.

Great destinations matter.

Great aircraft matter.

Efficiency matters.

But people remember how you made them feel.

And at 38,000 feet, Emirates has made me feel welcome more times than I can count.

That is why I keep flying with them.

And that is why I choose Emirates for Thrive.
