Software has traditionally made users adapt to its structure: open the app, find the screen, enter the information and interpret the result.
AI is changing that pattern. More software can now begin with intent rather than navigation. The user describes what they need, and the system gathers context and returns a useful answer or next step.
Dashboards will still matter where people need to inspect information visually. But they are becoming one part of a broader interface rather than the default destination for every task.
The practical question for product teams is simple: does the user really need another screen, or do they need a shorter route from question to action?
